Abstract
The image in the lithospheric magnetic anomaly field of the subduction process of the cold lithospheric Arabian Plate from the south under the Eurasian Plate, as well as the possible separation of a part of its lithosphere, is discussed. To analyze the influence of these processes over the Eastern Anatolian Plate (Turkey) territory, the CHAMP satellite experimental data were used. They were obtained mainly at the last stage of mission, when the orbit altitude dropped to 280–260 km, which made it possible to obtain geomagnetic parameters with a higher spatial resolution. Maps of lithospheric magnetic anomalies of various scales and of space averaging degree were constructed for several regions of the Eastern Anatolian Plate and its surroundings. A joint analysis of lithospheric magnetic anomaly and seismic velocity images, which were obtained as a result of extensive tomographic studies of the Arabian and East Anatolian Plates, was carried out. Obvious connections of the lithospheric magnetic anomalies field distribution with regional geological structures and tectonic processes that occurred here in the past, as well as those observed at present were revealed. The integrated use of satellite magnetic data, seismic surveys and tomographic methods provides a more complete understanding of the deep structure of the lithosphere in the seismically active region of Eastern Anatolia. The obtained results are of interest for further complex geological and geophysical studies and the construction of substantiated models of the lithosphere evolution.
